Shane T. Devins

Early in his career, Shane recognized a passion for renewable energy projects and his ability to contribute to a positive future, which led him to make this the focal point of his real estate practice. He has extensive experience in handling the real estate aspects of renewable energy and other sustainable projects and operations, including financing, construction and development, acquisition, disposition, leasing, title/survey, and land use and entitlements. His transactional experience includes not only large-scale solar, wind, storage, and other energy projects, but also sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and other similar sustainability-focused projects and operations. Shane also has significant experience in the negotiation and structuring of joint ventures and M&A transactions, including cross-border transactions primarily involving Asia-based investment in the U.S.
Shane takes a pragmatic approach to the practice of law, and advises clients in a practical, straightforward manner on the potential risks, exposures, and benefits of the real estate components of sustainable projects. His experience in both the real estate and corporate aspects of transactions puts him in a unique position to broadly consider potential risk and exposure, to analyze complex issues, and to provide guidance accordingly.
Prior to joining Clean Energy Counsel, Shane worked at both international and national law firms, specializing in commercial real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He is recognized as a “Rising Star” in Real Estate by Super Lawyers.
In his free time, Shane enjoys playing guitar, catching a Chicago Bulls game, backpacking, kayaking, and visiting the newest craft breweries.
