Jonah Brotman
Attorney
With over a decade of experience as a tax practitioner in the impact finance industry, Jonah’s love of nature and deep concern for our climate and environmental future led him to focus his practice on renewable energy, sustainability and decarbonization. At Clean Energy Counsel, Jonah leverages his tax knowledge and considerable transactional experience to help clients navigate hurdles and mitigate risks through all phases of clean energy project development and finance.
Jonah has significant knowledge of production and investment renewable energy tax credits, and he counsels clients on the unique structuring and compliance implications of transactions leveraging those and other incentives. He also advises private equity sponsors on tax issues in connection with the acquisition and disposition of their portfolio companies, and tax matters related to fund formation and structure. Jonah has advised developers and investors on projects nationwide; notable work includes representing an ITC investor in a t-flip (hybrid transferability plus tax equity) solar and storage transaction involving approximately 15 project sites across the plains and mountain west, and counseling a national developer on the structure of its development and operational holdings, to both ensure compatibility with the latest Inflation Reduction Act guidance and maximize marketability to potential tax equity investors.
Outside of the office, Jonah enjoys hiking and biking the great Colorado outdoors with his family and their goldendoodle, Wally. A lifelong electronic music enthusiast, he can also be found mixing house and techno records at home or venues around town.
