Janny J. Gandhi
Attorney

Janny acquired an interest in contributing to the clean energy space during law school, when taking a seminar on developing CSR and ESG strategies for energy companies. She started her career at White & Case LLP as an energy projects and project finance associate, advising international energy clients on projects ranging from the development of one of the first U.S. electric bus charging depots with on-site green hydrogen production powered by solar and BESS to development of and offtake for innovative onshore and offshore LNG and LPG facilities in West Africa and Canada.

Along with her experience in private practice, Janny worked at an international energy major as one of the first attorneys on its’ U.S. renewables team, advising as the lead internal attorney on construction financing, land acquisition, project development, EPC, and offtake for two major utility scale solar projects totaling over 1GW. She also supported various project development and finance workstreams for BESS projects, offshore wind projects, and renewable portfolio acquisitions.

Prior to joining Clean Energy Counsel, Janny was General Counsel at a private-equity backed solar, BESS, and EV charging IPP, leading the legal team and advising on all activities for the company, including over ten portfolio acquisitions, finance activities (capital markets, backleverage, debt, and tax equity), EPC, procurement and supply chain, project development, policy creation, corporate governance, and executive board functions.

Through her experiences in both private practice and in-house, Janny is able to identify and provide client-focused assistance on transactions, tailor risks and mitigation advice to the company’s specific needs and risk profiles, and create an overall streamlined approach to the transaction.

Janny has native fluency in Gujarati and Hindi. In her free time, Janny enjoys heritage tourism, hot yoga, snorkeling in the ocean, and a nice latte.
