Alex Smorczewski
Attorney
Alex advises lenders, investors, borrowers and asset owners on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships, general corporate matters, debt and equity financings and project development matters. He is passionate about supporting all aspects of the energy transition.
Prior to joining Clean Energy Counsel, Alex spent two years working on renewable energy investments at a global asset management firm, and prior to that he spent six years practicing at two international law firms with a focus on renewable energy, and a year as an investment banking associate at a major U.S. M&A advisory firm. Before law and business school, Alex worked in corporate strategy at a major U.S. financial institution including during the financial crisis of 2007-2008. His experience spans legal and non-legal roles as both an advisor and principal.
Alex is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and is conversant in Spanish, Portuguese and French. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and getting outdoors. He currently resides on the East End of Long Island, New York where he is an active member of his local volunteer fire department and is qualified as an interior firefighter.
